The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the city of Würzburg to carry out a microscopic traffic flow simulation. Several options for improving traffic safety at the intersection of the roads Bismarckstraße and Röntgenring will be investigated.

The traffic effects of the respective variants will be examined by considering the agreed signal adjustments for the morning and afternoon peaks. Within the microscopic traffic flow simulation, the road network capacity, as well as possible capacity reserves will be analyzed. Based on the results and findings, a preferred variant optimized with regard to traffic light control will be derived.

The assignment of the BERNARD Gruppe includes the development of the simulation model, the calibration and execution of the simulation, as well as the presentation of the simulation results.
