The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned with extensive planning services for measures aiming at the expansion of Cologne’s east-west public transport axis.
In order to expand public transport services in Cologne also on the east-west axis, numerous platforms at the stops along light rail Line 1 will have to be extended, converted or newly built. The city center offers a unique opportunity to upgrade public spaces.
The capacity expansion of the east-west axis requires extensive planning work from various specialist disciplines. The BERNARD Gruppe is providing interdisciplinary support for the project in the field of mobility with its transport planning, transport infrastructure, and traffic engineering departments. In the city center, the BERNARD Gruppe is the general planner for the track and road design. Once we have decided on one of the two inner-city planning alternatives, we will report on our work as general planner.
