The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned to design a digital public transport priority system as part of the “harzbewegt” pilot project.

The district of Harz was selected as a pilot area by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. Local public transport will be made more attractive and future-oriented by implementing targeted measures and initiatives. The aim is to bring the public transport service closer to that of a large city, particularly in terms of frequency and accessibility. On 15 April 2024, a network meeting of all those involved took place.

The contract awarded to the BERNARD Gruppe includes the preparation of service specifications for equipping the vehicles with on-board units (OBU) and the traffic lights with roadside units (RSU), the design of the traffic light control systems for public transport priority as well as commissioning and fine-tuning.
