The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned to design the renewal of five existing railway overpasses, which are operated by DB Netz AG and located in the Koblenz area. The design services comprise preliminary, concept and permit application design, as well as tender and execution design with regard to structural engineering and transport infrastructure.
All structures are located in densely built-up areas. The fact that the measures have to be carried out under tight space conditions and during only short track closures makes the design task particularly challenging. In close cooperation with DB Netz AG, the BERNARD Gruppe is developing the optimum design variant for each individual bridge structure. Different load-bearing systems and construction methods will be used.
The concept design has already been completed for almost all bridges. By the end of this year, the tender and execution design will be available so that the construction work can begin on time from 2022, coordinated with planned track closures.
