The BERNARD Gruppe has developed a wrong-way driver warning system in cooperation with ASFINAG Alpenstraßen GmbH.
The sensor system, the BERNARD Mobility Analyser (BMA), is based on an anonymous, optical detection of road users. The recorded video material is evaluated and processed directly in the sensor system, based on artificial intelligence. Subsequently, the alarm message is reported to the control center in real time and an anonymized video sequence is transmitted so that the actual road safety risk can be assessed.
The wrong-way driver warning system was nominated for the Tyrolean Innovation Award and put forward for the Austrian State Prize 2024 by the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce.
