The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned with comprehensive planning services within the Greater Nizwa Structure Plan (GNSP). Nizwa is one of the oldest cities in Oman. The metropolitan area has around 140,000 inhabitants.

With the GNSP, Oman is pursuing the goal of creating a national center for the country’s interior, with a focus on education, innovative technologies, mining, and tourism. Various issues need to be considered here: Where will people live? Where will they work? How will they get around? What expectations do they have of their environment?

The BERNARD Gruppe is helping to answer these questions. In detail, the BERNARD Gruppe assignment comprises the following tasks: creation of a survey concept, development of a macroscopic traffic model, model calibration and validation, implementation of the traffic forecast, detailed investigations of the action areas, and documentation.
