With its interdisciplinary design expertise, the BERNARD Gruppe is supporting the implementation of one of the most pivotal infrastructure projects of Germany’s transition to renewable energy. The receipt of the planning approval for section B2 marks an important milestone in the course of this project.
SuedLink is currently the largest grid expansion project in Germany. With a length of around 700 kilometers, the direct current underground cable connection will transport wind power from the north to the consumption centers in the south. The aim is to make energy supply secure, economical and climate-friendly in the long term. The BERNARD Gruppe has been involved in the planning of this major project for several years. Permit application and execution designs for TenneT and TransnetBW are being prepared in a joint venture. The services include route planning, technical system planning, environmental impact assessments, coordination with authorities and the involvement of all relevant project participants.
Preparatory measures for the structural implementation will now follow. Furthermore, the BERNARD Gruppe is involved in other areas of the project beyond technical planning. One example is the development of an innovative lighting concept for construction sites. For this concept, environmental aspects, such as the protection of nocturnal animal species, were taken into account.
Our involvement in SuedLink is an expression of our guiding principle “engineers you can trust”. With innovative, sustainable and fair solutions, the BERNARD Gruppe is helping to drive forward the energy transition in Germany.
