The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the city of Halle (Saale) to prepare a traffic report for the development plan regarding the two special areas Hubertusplatz / Heideallee and Theoretikum Weinberg Campus.

The Hubertusplatz square is the northern end of the city’s popular Heideallee avenue. The development plan is intended to realize the objectives laid down in the municipal development concepts, and to upgrade Hubertusplatz in line with its significance for the city in terms of urban design and functionality. The development plan for the Theoretikum Weinberg Campus includes the construction of a pandemic resilience center and a new teaching and research building aimed at developing a new medical campus on the site.

In addition to new traffic volumes generated by the two project areas, the traffic report also aims at examining the surroundings and making recommendations for the development of the areas and for sustainable mobility. Starting with the preparation of the data basis and the analysis of the development measures, the BERNARD Gruppe will carry out a traffic survey. Subsequently, an estimate of the traffic volumes for the planned road uses will be drawn up. Based on the results and the 2040 traffic forecast, the capacity for signalized and unsignalized intersections will be determined. The results will be incorporated into a development concept that takes into account stationary traffic, including the need for e-charging stations, new mobility services, and commercial traffic.
