The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by ÖBB Infrastruktur AG, a company owned by the Austrian Federal Railways, with the structural design of the upgrading of the Radkersburg Railway.

The Radkersburg Railway is a single-track, non-electrified standard-gauge line from Spielfeld-Straß along the Mur River to Bad Radkersburg in the province of Styria. By increasing the frequency and shortening the travel time for the 30.5 km route, the service quality for rail customers will be greatly improved. The route will be electrified, and the maximum speed increased to 160 km/h. The modernization is expected to save 2,000 tons of C02 per year. Construction works are scheduled to start in 2028.

The services provided by the BERNARD Gruppe include the structural design of 29 bridges for the project phases of permit application design, tendering and execution. The entire planning process will be handled using the BIM method.
