The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by DB Netz AG for design services within the scope of the upgrade of the railway section between Landshut and Plattling. The design of the railway section is being carried out by civil engineers of BERNARD Gruppe.

The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned with the conceptual and preliminary design services for the upgrade of the railway section which aims at improving local rail passenger service between Munich and Passau. Several level crossings will be renewed and stations with passing loops will be either rebuilt or upgraded. As part of the design, a new connecting track will be planned, the so-called “Plattlinger Kurve” between Dingolfing and Passau. The existing rail and road overpasses in the reconstruction area will also be renewed and upgraded.

The design is carried out using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method. By the end of 2022, the basic evaluation and the BIM as-built model will be completed. Subsequently, the design of the railway route and the civil engineering structures as well as the structural engineering design will be prepared. Preliminary design is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2023.

Other BERNARD projects with a focus on transport infrastructure comprise, for example, the enhancement of the attractiveness of railway stations in Austria (including Seefeld, Rankweil, Hohenems), the safety-related retrofitting of the Karawanken tunnel and the electrification of the Gailtal and Vinschger railways.
