The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned, together with Planungsbüro VIA eG, by the city of Augsburg to prepare a feasibility study for a bicycle priority route network.
The aim of the project is to develop an efficient and continuous bicycle priority route network in the urban area of Augsburg with connections to the surrounding areas. The study is part of the city’s mobility strategy aimed at achieving the objectives set out therein in the long term. Eight corridors and one inner-city link will be examined as potential bicycle priority routes.
As part of the study, various route options will be analyzed and evaluated, and the preferred route variants will be documented in conceptual action plans and detailed drawings. The action plan will be underpinned by a cost estimate. In the context of a historically shaped city such as Augsburg, the scarcity of spatial resources and competition for space must be considered.
For four corridors, the BERNARD Gruppe will be responsible for the development and evaluation of route variants, a detailed as-built analysis, on-site inspections and the preparation of measure profiles and cost estimates.
Close coordination with the city of Augsburg and the consideration of relevant strategic plans, such as the Augsburg mobility plan and urban development concept, ensure that the proposed measures are feasible both technically and in an urban planning context.
