The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the city of Aschaffenburg to prepare a pre-study on increasing the capacity of the regional bus station (ROB).

The existing ROB was put into operation in 2008. Due to rising passenger numbers, as well as the increase in bus traffic and the use of articulated buses, there is an urgent need for action to enhance the ROB’s capacity. The city of Aschaffenburg is pursuing the goal of making the ROB fit for the future regarding mobility transition.

As part of the first stage of the study, a range of possible variants will be developed and evaluated to increase the capacity of the bus station. Both operational and infrastructural adjustments are conceivable. Among other things, traffic guidance options in the vicinity of the ROB will be examined to create additional space for public transport. The focus will be on the numerous use types (drop-off and pick-up traffic, delivery traffic, parking, cabs, etc.).

The BERNARD Gruppe will analyze current traffic and operational processes, evaluate various optimization measures and recommend an in-depth study of the preferred options. On the basis of this pre-study, more in-depth analyses and planning services will be provided.
