The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the state building authority of Schweinfurt to update the traffic report for the relocation of the B 286 federal highway between Bad Kissingen and the A 71 motorway..
The planned relocation of the B 286 is a key infrastructure project in Germany’s Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan. Initial traffic studies were carried out back in 2016, with forecasts extending to 2035. Due to current developments, an update is now required that takes into account the status quo in 2025 and the forecast horizon of 2040.
As part of the study, traffic counts will first be carried out to record current traffic volumes and compare them with the data from 2016. Current federal forecasts and the latest mobility trends will also be included in the calculations. The aim is to assess the impact of the planned route on traffic in the entire study area. For relevant intersections, capacity analyses will be carried out for pre-dimensioning.
The BERNARD Gruppe is responsible for the complete modeling of traffic flows for the existing traffic, the updating of the traffic forecast, the modeling of the plan scenarios and capacity analyses at intersections. The report will form the basis for the upcoming planning approval procedure.
