The town of Weingarten is consistently committed to a sustainable mobility transition and is specifically promoting bicycle traffic. With the planning of the north-south bicycle priority route, a key project is entering the next phase.
The foundations for the targeted promotion of bicycle traffic have already been laid since the BERNARD Gruppe developed the inter-municipal bicycle traffic concept for the municipal association of Mittleres Schussental. Solutions for measures that are included in this bicycle traffic concept will now be successively planned, coordinated and implemented in detail.
On behalf of the town of Weingarten, which is a member of the municipal association, the BERNARD Gruppe is also taking on the final design for the north-south axis, which will be an important link for everyday bicycle traffic in the future. For this reason, the connection is planned as a standard bicycle priority route (). The route runs along Lägelerstraße via Daimler- and Brechenmacherstraße to St.-Konrad-Straße – an important connection, especially for schools and public facilities. The planning is being funded by the federal and state governments. Under the special program “Stadt und Land” (S&L), which is part of the German climate protection program 2030, state and local investments are supported to further develop local bicycle traffic for the first time.
The aim of the program is to increase the attractiveness of bicycle traffic by improving road safety and road traffic conditions in both urban and rural areas.
Services include the preparation of the draft documents for an application for funding under the German State Municipal Transport Financing Act (LGVFG). The planning will be based on the results of the preliminary design and consider not only structural framework conditions but also urban planning requirements.
The BERNARD Gruppe is contributing its many years of experience in the integrative planning of infrastructure projects and thus makes an active contribution to the mobility transition. As “engineers you can trust”, we combine quality, sustainability and economic efficiency.
