Matzleinsdorferplatz is one of the central transport hubs in the south of Vienna and is undergoing extensive structural redesign as part of the U2 extension. To ensure the safe execution of the construction work, a monitoring system has been set up that continuously monitors the entire ÖBB infrastructure, the underground tram facilities, and the underpass. A multi-stage alarm system immediately detects unusual movements, supplemented by vibration measurements on surrounding buildings during labor-intensive construction phases. The monitoring ensures that roads and railways remain fully functional and safe to operate even during the construction period
