The Rhine bridge between Lustenau (AT) and Au (CH), which has been in existence since 1957, is showing increasing deformation, making continuous structural monitoring necessary. An automated monitoring system has been installed for long-term condition assessment, which records vertical displacements, inclinations, and the effects of temperature and solar radiation in real time. A dynamic alarm system immediately reports unusual movements, while the integrated vehicle detection system identifies heavy vehicles that are placing excessive loads on the bridge. The system provides an objective, reliable basis for the safe continued operation of the bridge.
