Along the A13 Brenner motorway, the BERNARD Gruppe is responsible for all design phases for the refurbishment of the Ruetz drainage channel and the existing outlet structure in the Schönberg central drainage area. On behalf of ASFINAG, the Group is preparing the documentation for the application for water-rights clearance, as well as a comprehensive rehabilitation concept designed to ensure the long-term and safe operation of the drainage systems.
The measures focus on the rehabilitation of the existing drainage systems, the renewal of the outlet structure—including river bank protection—and all design phases for the necessary access roads and site facilities. The aim is to carry out a sustainable refurbishment of the existing infrastructure without altering the approved hydraulic properties or the framework conditions under water law. At the same time, operational safety will be enhanced and the long-term functionality of the drainage system secured. The services provided by the BERNARD Gruppe include a technical condition survey, hydraulic calculations, all design phases for the refurbishment measures, and the preparation of all documentation required for approval under water law. Particular attention is being paid to integrating the measures into the sensitive environment of the Ruetz. In addition to the rehabilitation of the pipes, the existing outlet structure will be dismantled, a new energy dissipation structure will be erected, and near-natural solutions for the return flow of water and the stabilisation of the riverbanks are being planned.
Drawing on its interdisciplinary expertise, the BERNARD Gruppe combines water management, hydraulics and infrastructure design to create a holistic solution. This establishes a sustainable foundation for the long-term operation of the drainage systems along one of the most important north-south corridors in the Alpine region, whilst also making an effective contribution to the protection of the watercourse and the adjacent natural environment.
