Sound transport planning lays the foundation for sustainable infrastructure decisions. The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the City of Deggendorf to carry out a traffic study as part of the planning approval process for a new bridge over the Danube.
The aim of the study is to assess the traffic impacts of various bridge options and to provide a robust basis for decision-making for the subsequent Permit application procedures. To this end, existing traffic models and previous studies are being updated and projected through to the forecast period of 2040. The focus is on modelling and evaluating two bridge options and their impact on the transport network in and around Deggendorf. The BERNARD Gruppe is developing the traffic forecast, conducting calculations of traffic demand and analysing changes in traffic flows. Capacity studies are being carried out at relevant intersections. In critical sections, a microscopic simulation of traffic flow is being conducted to identify bottlenecks and determine the necessary modification and expansion requirements. The forecast traffic volumes form the basis for the noise emission forecast. The results are compiled in a comprehensive study report and serve as the basis for the necessary planning approval procedure. With our expertise in transport planning, the BERNARD Gruppe supports the development of an efficient and future-proof infrastructure.
