In the course of the overhaul of the A12 Inntal motorway between the Mötz junction and the Simmeringgalerie, new noise barriers are being erected in the Mötz, Staudach and Silz areas. These measures form part of a comprehensive infrastructure project which, in addition to roadway rehabilitation and bridge refurbishment, also includes the modernisation of noise protection measures.
The BERNARD Gruppe is responsible for the acoustic acceptance testing of the newly erected noise barriers in this project. The aim is to verify the acoustic properties of the noise barrier panels once they have been installed (in situ). Both the sound reflection and airborne sound insulation properties are examined in accordance with the applicable European standards and ASFINAG’s requirements. For quality assurance purposes, the noise barriers are already being tested on a random basis during the Construction Stage. This enables any potential workmanship defects to be identified at an early stage and taken into account in subsequent construction phases. Upon completion, comprehensive measurements and analyses will be carried out along the test section, which is several kilometres long in total. With its expertise in acoustics and infrastructure, the BERNARD Gruppe makes an important contribution to ensuring the required quality standards are met. The results form the basis for the final evaluation of the effectiveness of the noise protection measures and support a sustainable improvement in the quality of life along the A12.
