For the “Goldschlägerhof” construction project in Schwabach, the BERNARD Gruppe developed a comprehensive diversion plan to ensure efficient traffic flow during a necessary full closure of Reichswaisenhausstraße.
The Goldschlägerhof project involves the development of a new urban quarter comprising a hotel, a supermarket, a nursery, residential and office space, as well as doctors’ surgeries, and requires extensive adjustments to the transport infrastructure. In the course of the planned road reconstruction works, a suitable traffic management plan had to be drawn up for the construction period. The BERNARD Gruppe examined various diversion options and analysed their impact on private motorised transport, public transport, pedestrian and Bicycle traffic, and road safety. Particular attention was paid to the interactions with a construction project planned in parallel at the State Technical College in the adjacent area. To enable a thorough evaluation of the possible diversion routes, additional traffic surveys were carried out and the capacity of relevant intersections during the morning and evening rush hours was examined. On this basis, traffic diversions were estimated and the impacts on the existing transport network were evaluated. In addition, the BERNARD Gruppe developed the necessary traffic sign plans and prepared signal adjustments for the affected traffic lights. Furthermore, existing pedestrian crossings were reviewed and the measures required to maintain road safety were evaluated.
