With the opening of the Koralmtunnel on 12 December, a new level of quality in European rail transport has become a reality. As the heart of the Koralm Railway, it will in future connect Graz and Klagenfurt in just 41 minutes and, as part of the Trans-European Network (TEN), strengthen one of the most important transport corridors in Central Europe.

The BERNARD Gruppe has been supporting this generational project of ÖBB since the very first planning steps. Our services include, among other things, tunnel engineering design as well as local construction supervision. In addition, we are responsible for the planning of the electrical engineering infrastructure and local construction supervision, including radio technology, line and network technology, signalling systems and room equipment. With commissioning, one of the most significant infrastructure projects of recent decades reaches its completion. The Koralmtunnel connects regions, improves the performance of the rail network and creates long-term momentum for sustainable mobility. Over many years, the BERNARD Gruppe has professionally supported this path and, in doing so, has implemented its guiding principle “Engineers with Responsibility” in a particularly distinctive way within a project that is shaping the development of transport in Austria and beyond.
