The municipality of Hermaringen is planning to reduce the speed limit on the main roads Friedrichstraße, Karlstraße and Heusteigstraße. To prove the effectiveness of this measure, the BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned to carry out a noise study.

The core of the project is the evaluation of the potential noise reduction through the planned speed reduction. A detailed 3D noise model will be created for this purpose. The traffic volume will be modeled with the help of current DTV values and heavy vehicle traffic shares, and the buildings along the thoroughfare are based on current population figures. Noise maps will be calculated for the day and night periods in the existing and planned state. The loudest level per building will be visualized and classified. The evaluation will provide information on the number of people affected per level class and quantifies the effects of the speed reduction. The results will be documented in a report and presented to the municipal council. In addition to technical transparency, this report will form the basis for evaluating the measure vis-à-vis the district authority.

With this project, the BERNARD Gruppe is underlining its expertise in noise analyses and supporting communities in making well-founded decisions in terms of quality of life.
