The new quality standards and model solutions for cycling infrastructure in Baden-Württemberg have been published. The BERNARD Gruppe played a leading role in the development of the state-wide standards for basic routes, bicycle priority routes, and bicycle highways. It is also supporting their publication and application by the cities and municipalities in Baden-Württemberg.
With the new quality standards and model solutions, the state of Baden-Württemberg is creating a uniform basis for the planning and implementation of cycling infrastructure. The aim is to create a consistently comprehensible, safe and attractive network for everyday bicycle traffic. Municipalities and building authorities are thus provided with clear guidelines and solutions for the uniform design of local cycling infrastructure. To avoid planning errors, typical errors are also shown in so-called anti-model solutions. Together with the German Ministry of Transport, the contents were coordinated and transferred into a practical overall document.
The results have now been presented at the symposium RadKONGRESS Baden-Württemberg as part of a specialist presentation and in a workshop by the BERNARD Gruppe and the design firm VIA eG.
