As part of the planned replacement construction of three bridge structures over the Street of Nations in Erfurt, the BERNARD Gruppe is taking on essential services in transport planning and planning of technical equipment.

The existing, outdated bridge facilities will be replaced in the future by contemporary solutions that meet the requirements of traffic safety, accessibility, and urban integration.

The BERNARD Gruppe is responsible for the planning of the transport facilities for road and tram along Nordhäuser Straße in Erfurt as well as the specialist planning of the technical equipment. This includes, among other things, urban lighting, traffic signal systems, traction power supply, overhead line systems, and grounding concepts. The project approach takes into account the reorganization of stop areas, the redesign of traffic lanes, and the improved guidance for bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The Street of Nations running beneath the bridge will also be optimized with regard to its traffic areas, functionalities, and layout for motorized and non-motorized traffic. A central aspect of the planning services is ensuring the flow of traffic during the construction period. For this purpose, temporary transport facilities for tram, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic are designed to guarantee functional accessibility to the affected areas during construction. With the start of planning services in April 2025, an important milestone was set for the implementation of this urban infrastructure project.

The BERNARD Gruppe is contributing its experience in interdisciplinary project work as well as its expertise in complex transport projects. The project stands as an example of an integrated planning approach that meets both the requirements of public transport and the expectations of sustainable urban mobility.
