In the course of digital urban development, the city of Wolfsburg is relying on a fully integrated urban information system. The BERNARD Gruppe is providing design and consulting services for the “CityInfo Wolfsburg” project.
The project focuses on setting up a digital information system and renewing the existing parking guidance system. Obsolete displays will be professionally dismantled and replaced by modern, digitally controlled elements. These include new LED display boards, which can be used to display free parking space capacities and alternatively publish city, event, and situation-related information. The system is controlled via a software application on the existing central municipal IT infrastructure. Communication with the displays is automated and secure via LTE mobile radio. Data connection to higher-level platforms is also planned.
In addition to finalizing the design, the BERNARD Gruppe is also preparing the tender and providing support until commissioning at the end of 2025. The system is scalable and enables the integration of additional displays.
With this construction and modernization measure, the city of Wolfsburg is making a contribution to intelligent traffic control in urban areas. The new system will improve orientation, reduce search traffic and create a reliable information base for residents and visitors.
