The BERNARD Gruppe is supporting ASFINAG, the Austrian motorway provider, with a comprehensive service package as part of the full upgrade of the S16 Arlbergschnellstraße between the Zams and Landeck junctions. The focus is on the structural assessment and geotechnical monitoring of the existing Lötz tunnel tube, supplemented by high-quality technical monitoring over a period of twelve months.
The aim of the engineering measures is the independent comparative analysis for the structural assessment of the existing tunnel. The analysis is being carried out under the dual control principle and in close coordination with the structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and geology specialists. Warning and alarm values are defined together with the client. The monitoring system, installed at the same time, is recording crack widths, temperature curves and vibrations. The data is visualized in a dashboard, and if limit values are exceeded, an automatic alarm is sent by e-mail or an optical signal transmitter on site.
In addition, the BERNARD Gruppe is providing extensive geotechnical quality assurance services. These include checking the tender and execution documents, drawing up a geotechnical safety management plan with an alarm plan, as well as the monitoring of foundation levels, excavation support, and measurement data during construction.
With this project, the BERNARD Gruppe is actively contributing to the safe and sustainable development of the transport infrastructure in Tyrol. The services combine technical precision with interdisciplinary expertise and are in line with current quality and environmental standards.
