As part of an engineering consortium, the BERNARD Group is contributing key services to a forward-looking mobility project in the Aachen region and has been commissioned with the basic evaluation and preliminary design for the planned Regiotram.

The focus lies on a roughly 20-kilometre tram route from Aachen via Würselen and Alsdorf to Baesweiler. Under the leadership of the Aachener Verkehrsverbund (AVV), all aspects related to traffic planning, construction and operations are being examined. Within the engineering consortium, the BERNARD Group is responsible for technical management and leads significant areas of the planning process.

This includes the design of transport infrastructure and intersections integrating the Regiotram, the implementation of traffic surveys, as well as the planning of technical equipment such as traction power supply, signalling systems and telecommunications. The scope of services is complemented by a cost-benefit analysis in accordance with the methodology of standardised evaluation.

With its interdisciplinary expertise, the BERNARD Group supports the Aachen region in realising an efficient and sustainable public transport connection – delivering engineering services with responsibility to help drive the mobility transition.
