The Gerberstraße in Viersen will be fully closed for around a month to renew the railroad overpass. For this period, the BERNARD Gruppe is preparing a traffic report on behalf of Deutsche Bahn, which will show the effects of the closure on road traffic in the surrounding area.
The aim: a realistic forecast of traffic flows during the construction phase. On this basis, targeted measures can be developed, and citizens can be informed in an understandable way about how traffic can be handled on the detour routes during the construction period. The study area comprises a radius of around 500 meters around the construction site. In this area, we are recording the traffic situation at several intersections – including cars, trucks, cyclists, pedestrians and buses. We will also take into account the needs of facilities such as the fire department and schools, as they are often particularly affected by road closures and diversion traffic. The study will be based on recognized guidelines and current traffic data. All findings will be incorporated into a final report and discussed with Deutsche Bahn and the city of Viersen. With this report, the BERNARD Gruppe is creating a sound basis for forward-looking traffic planning – and for transparent communication with the public.
