Tramway networks are one of the backbones of urban mobility. The BERNARD Gruppe is currently supporting several major German cities in the design and realization of important tramway projects – including Munich and Cologne.

In Munich, our focus is on traffic guidance during construction, among other things. The aim is to efficiently divert traffic in sensitive areas, safely accompany construction phases and maintain accessibility in the urban area. Our concepts combine structural measures with precise transport planning – tailored to the complex requirements of ongoing operations. We are also accompanying the expansion of the tramway network in Cologne. Here, we are developing traffic engineering concepts to optimize construction processes and corresponding traffic diversions. The focus is on minimizing disruption for all road users – while ensuring that construction can progress smoothly. What all our projects have in common is that services are provided by using an interdisciplinary approach. The close integration of transportation, construction and design results in holistic solutions that have an impact beyond the project itself. In this way, we are improving mobility in cities in the long term, enhancing quality of life and contributing to the shift to sustainable transport. The projects are an example of how planning for sustainable mobility can become reality.
