The BERNARD Gruppe supported the building authority of Krumbach with the traffic study for the new construction of the Adenauer Bridge. The bridge, which connects the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm on the B10 federal highway, will be renewed in the coming years. The official ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of construction.
Various expansion options with up to ten lanes and the effects of the construction phases were examined. The study was based on the region’s traffic model, supplemented by new traffic counts and forecasts up to 2035. In addition to the long-term effects, the traffic diversions during construction were also analyzed, so that there are now hardly any capacity restrictions in the final construction process.
The study also included the integration of pedestrian, bicycle, and local public transport networks. Capacity analyses were carried out for the most important junctions and intersections in order to create a reliable basis for decisions on the expansion.
