The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the city of Bielefeld to plan the bicycle infrastructure along the Senner Straße. Over a length of approx. 3.5 km, the guidance of bicycle traffic needs to be adapted and improved.

The planning will be based on the city of Bielefeld’s bicycle traffic concept established in 2020. In this concept, the Senner Straße was highlighted as one of eleven development corridors for a sustainable, efficient, and safe bicycle path network in the city. The aim of the project is to fully implement the standards laid down in the bicycle traffic concept.

The BERNARD Gruppe has been commissioned to plan the implementation of the recommendations and measures elaborated in the bicycle traffic concept, up to the execution design phase. In the planning, the interests of pedestrians, moving and stationary motor vehicles, and bus traffic will also be considered. Road crossings and bus stops will be converted and extended to make them barrier-free. In addition to the reconstruction of the route section, the safe guidance of bicycle traffic at unsignalized and signalized intersections, in a traffic circle, at a level crossing, and in the vicinity of numerous road junctions and busy property access roads will also be planned.
