With a new software solution, the BERNARD Gruppe is supplying LED displays that enable cyclists approaching traffic lights to adapt their driving behavior to the traffic lights.

This principle of signal prediction uses LED lights installed in the ground in front of the traffic lights along the cycle path. Considering the vehicle-actuated signal control, the optimum start time of the LED light strip starting or extinguishing in the direction of travel is calculated to the second. The activation or deactivation time of the built-in LED spotlights is adapted to the usual wheel speed.

With this application at three signalized intersections approached by cyclists on Ammerländer Heerstraße, the first of its kind in Germany, the city of Oldenburg is once again setting an innovative example for the promotion and validation of bicycle traffic. The measure will harmonize the routes on the much-used main bicycle route between the surrounding area, the University of Oldenburg, and the city center.

Our services for this project, which is funded by the BDMV (German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport), ranged from concept design and tendering to software implementation and support during commissioning and follow-up.
