The BERNARD Gruppe has drawn up a mobility plan on behalf of the city of Friedrichshafen. After several years of joint cooperation between the BERNARD Gruppe and the city of Friedrichshafen, the mobility plan was approved by a majority of the local council.

As a result of the developments that have taken place – in particular, due to population and urban development and the completion of the new federal road B31 – there have been shifts in traffic with far-reaching effects on the urban transport network. In addition to infrastructural changes, changing mobility patterns have also played a key role. Increasing multimodality, greater use of e-mobility, growing environmental awareness and the advancing of digitalization are influencing the mobility behavior of the population and placing new demands on mobility planning. These developments require a holistic approach for the mobility plan, which has just been presented, to meet the current and future needs of the city of Friedrichshafen.

The mobility plan includes updating the traffic database, updating the forecast and drawing up a comprehensive, holistic concept of measures. The concept of measures has increasingly focused on the aspect of climate neutrality. In this context, the main task was to further develop and sensibly supplement the existing transport infrastructure in terms of sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility. Among other things, a city-wide network of mobility stations, elements of city logistics, a parking guidance and signposting system adapted to the priority road network, consistent prioritization of eco-mobility and parking space management measures will contribute to this goal. Using a traffic model, spatial and modal shift effects were determined and potentials for urban revitalization and upgrading, and further development of urban mobility were identified.
