The BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned by the Austrian motorway company (ASFINAG) with the structural inspection of the Gleinalmtunnel.
The Gleinalmtunnel in Austria is part of the A9 Pyhrn motorway and has a length of about 8.3 km. It is considered the third longest road tunnel in Austria. It connects the districts of Leoben and Graz-Umgebung in Styria and was built in the 1970s. Due to steadily increasing traffic volumes, as well as increased demands on tunnel safety, the BERNARD Gruppe was asked to carry out an inspection of the civil engineering structure.
The task comprises the structural inspection of the Gleinalmtunnel (traffic lane in Spielfeld direction) including ventilation shafts. The scope of services also includes a control of the Gleinalmtunnel’s other traffic lane (Voralpenkreuz direction), as well as structural inspections of the tunnels PY46 Kienbergtunnel and PY48 Hungerbichltunnel.
For each tunnel structure and ventilation shaft, the results of the structural inspection will be summarized in a final documentation.
