As part of the planning consortium for the Pottendorf railway line (ARGE Planung Pottendorfer Linie), the BERNARD Gruppe was commissioned with the alignment planning and structural design for the construction of Achau station in Lower Austria, from preliminary design to operating permit.
The station planned by ostertag Architects has now been given the BIG SEE Architecture Award 2023. The new station with four tracks and two island platforms includes a bicycle and sidewalk underpass with stairways to the platforms, as well as a road underpass for the B11 federal highway. The new construction was carried out using the cut-and-cover method while maintaining railway operation.
