The expansion of the Brenner railway axis between Munich and Verona is one of the most important transport projects in Europe and will make an essential contribution to environmentally friendly mobility by shifting traffic from road to rail.

DB Netz AG has commissioned a consortium led by the BERNARD Gruppe and DB Engineering & Consulting with the design of the Ostermünchen – Innleiten section.

While the ‘Violet’ variant was selected following an analysis of several rough routing options, local sub-variants and alternatives also need to be investigated in this project. In the approximately 14 km long section of the new line, numerous civil engineering structures including a bridge over the Inn River as well as a challenging geology in the Rosenheim Basin represent a highly interesting engineering task that is also being worked on using BIM methodology.

This project is an essential section of the Brenner north access and therefore particularly important for the commissioning of the Brenner Base Tunnel.
