For the transmission of electrical energy and the associated network expansion of the SuedLink project, the BERNARD Gruppe, in a joint venture with Arcadis, was commissioned by the network operators TenneT and TransnetBW with the planning of around 160 km of direct current underground cable (Elze – Herleshausen).

Earlier this week, the drilling team started to take drill samples with a smaller drill rig at several points with drill holes down to a depth of approximately four meters in fields south of Neu-Eichenberg. Subsequently, a larger drilling rig for deeper drilling has been used, in order to be able to precisely analyze the subsoil for the underground cable and the necessary crossings.

Nearly 300 points were selected for test drilling in the first phase. The aim of the drilling is to gain knowledge about the composition and nature of the subsoil. The drilling is supervised by Bernard Gruppe geologists.

The geological risks are reduced to a minimum by means of intensive subsoil exploration. The subsoil investigations, which are being carried out simultaneously, will serve as the basis for a soil protection concept. In addition, the BERNARD Gruppe is carrying out environmental surveys in the project area. Later in the construction phase, environmental construction supervision will be implemented with great care and in compliance with all requirements.
