In Cologne-Ehrenfeld, several light rail lines and two stops will be bundled on a short section. The stops Subbelratherstraße / Gürtel and Nußbaumerstraße are important connection and transfer points. The extension of the stops includes the raising of the platform levels, in particular to create barrier-free access. In addition, the entire traffic situation will be adapted and street spaces will be made more attractive.

The BERNARD Gruppe has been commissioned to prepare a traffic report and to examine the technical feasibility. In the course of the raising and widening of the platforms and the traffic-safe adaptation of the accesses according to the state of the art, it must be assured that old tree populations are preserved and protected. Furthermore, construction measures will be taken to separate bicycle traffic  on both sides of the main routes and direct connections will be created for crossing bicycle traffic.

The requirements of the ecomobility will lead to the elimination of parking areas along the street and to the development of further shared mobility offers. The maintenance of delivery traffic and of the traffic flow on the commuter route must also be taken into account. The pulsating urban district needs sustainable traffic solutions. Due to its interdisciplinary planning approach, the BERNARD Gruppe is able to provide the required design solutions for all urban traffic issues.
