Once completed, the 101 km long bicycle expressway RS 1 will connect the cities in the Ruhr region.
A 3 km long section runs through the city center of Bochum. For this section, the BERNARD Gruppe is carrying out a route selection in close coordination with the city of Bochum. The route selection is based on an intensive (online) participation of the public, interest groups, city administration and politics. In total, the BERNARD Gruppe developed 42 route variants, which were reduced to three preferred variants in an extensive selection process. These three variants will be analyzed and designed in detail by the engineers of the BERNARD Gruppe, who are working together in interdisciplinary and inter-site teams.
