The BERNARD Gruppe has been commissioned by the city of Aalen for the project “Intelligent Parking Management System” as part of the InKoMo funding program by the state of Baden-Württemberg. In the first phase of the project, intelligent sensors will be installed in the urban road network, and in the second phase, the parking guidance system will be connected directly to the parking search traffic in a targeted manner.

The city of Aalen is one of five municipalities that have received a grant as part of the digitization strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The aim of the project is to reduce parking search traffic based on smart solutions and thus reduce emissions, noise and congestion. Sensors based on artificial intelligence, such as the BERNARD Mobility Analyser (a proprietary development), provide further information on the availability of public parking spaces and on-street parking options in addition to the car park occupancy rate. For the first phase, the BERNARD Gruppe has already installed 26 sensors in the area “Stadtoval” and at the station forecourt. The BERNARD Gruppe’s scope of services also includes the design and realization of the construction measures for the roadside dynamic parking guidance system. The partners of the consortium provide software solutions such as the app-based display for intelligent parking space navigation and the data connection between sensors and parking guidance system. This project is the basis for high regional scaling. By linking the information of free parking spaces of neighboring municipalities or the region, the foundations are created to navigate app-based parking search traffic and thus to sustainably reduce it at regional level.
